Ashley Campbell
Set in the 1990s, in a predominately white suburban town, my current work is an evolving love letter to my adolescence. Growing up as a biracial kid in an unconventional living situation, I struggled with belonging and often felt isolated in my town. Like most kids who grew up in the 90s, I looked forward to trips to Blockbuster on Friday nights, watching Nickelodeon and going to the mall on weekends (not to buy anything) but to loiter at the food court. It wouldn't be until much later in life that I would realize how those simple moments made a lasting impression on me.
